8 Days A Week

It's been 8 days since this amazing little person came into my life.  And it's been quite a week.  Allow me to share a few things that have been going on up to this point.

  • I have baskets of laundry to hang up and put away.
  • Also the pile in the corner is growing, which means the vicious laundry cycle is coming upon us again.
  • My husband and mother have been enormous helps with everything, including the laundry.
  • But still, the baskets haunt me and torment me.  You know how it is?
  • I am ridiculously sleep deprived.
  • We had a lot of visitors this week.
  • We had meals delivered to us three days in a row.
  • Thom grilled some hot dogs on his new fancy grill.
  • The conditions were prefect, our closest friends happened to all be in town.
  • My dad came for a quick visit, as did my little bro and his girlfriend.
  • My little love's bilirubin level was a 15.
  • When it hits 18 is when it's apparently serious and she'd have to go under the lights.
  • I have no idea how to tell when/if a baby's color is yellow.
  • I thought she was lookin' good.  The Dr thought she was way yellow.
  • Also it was Friday.
  • They told me to watch her and if we were worried about it and noticed her color changing, we could go get her blood drawn again on Monday.
  • I am ridiculously sleep deprived.  And a tad irrational.
  • I read online about how, if left untreated, high bilirubin levels in infants can cause brain damage, cause the baby to sleep a lot and not be awoken very easily.
  • Have you ever met a newborn?
  • They sleep a lot.
  • And like to sleep a lot.
  • And I am ridiculously sleep deprived.
  • And started panicking.
  • And worried that my brand new baby is getting brain damage.
  • Also, she hadn't pooped in 2 days.
  • And I am a giant ball of worry.
  • And I prayed and prayed and cried and cried.
  • And called the hospital and felt better.
  • Amelia pooped today.
  • A lot.
  • And it was on Daddy's watch...
  • And also on Daddy.
  • Happy Father's Day, Dad!
  • Also, she's been awake basically all day today.
  • Awake and eating, might I add.
  • I am just ridiculously sleep deprived.
  • I've lost about 20 lbs in 8 days.
  • I love having a girl.
  • I love bows and dresses and pink.
  • We don't know what to call her.
  • Ian calls her "mimi" or "lala"
  • Izacc calls her "millie" and "molly" and "bella"
  • I even call her "bella" sometimes.
  • She's gonna be super confused.
  • I have 499 blog posts to read in my reader.
  • I have completely lost my appetite.
  • I watched an entire season of Friends last night.
  • Did I mention she LOVES to eat?
  • This girls gonna be big as her brothers soon.
  • My mom left today.
  • I have three kids.
  • I have one more week with my husband before he resumes job #2 again.
  • I have plans of making the most out of this week.
  • Yikes.  3 to 1.
  • I am still really sore.
  • This whole giving birth thing sorta makes you feel like you've been hit by a bus.
  • I keep forgetting to take my pain pills.
  • My husband is SO cute with his daughter.
  • It melts my heart.
  • He's pretty cute with the boys too.
  • They were all singing while he gave them a bath tonight.
  • I feel little sad that its been 8 days already.
  • I love my life.
  • I seriously feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
  • I can't wait til I feel like getting dressed again.
  • I haven't had makeup on in days.
  • I am sporting my jammies all day and night.
  • And thats okay.
  • Did I mention how stinkin cute this baby is?
  • Because, seriously, she's the best!!

I am so sorry you were freaking out over the weekend about Amelia! I wish there was something I could have done...but I was out of town. I suck. I am so happy for you & your family of FIVE!!! It's wonderful & she is gorgeous. So are you, by the way. You don't need make up or clothes; jammies suit you just fine!

Don't sweat the little stuff like laundry and the fact we stay in our pj's all day. :-) Give all your attention to your little ones because they grow up way way way to fast.

Grace was the same way with the whole pooping thing...sucked at it and still does! I was so worried about her when she was a newborn because of it. The doctor told me that they can go 5 days without pooping before you need to worry about it. Sounds terrible, I know but they usually don't go that long. Don't even worry about all the laundry! I don't even have a new baby and I spent all of last week with a laundry room with no floor! Who cares! Spend time with your babies. It goes by far too fast!
