Halloweeners

How to have a fantabulous Halloween Party

A gigantic pile of chips, Lil' Smokies, Chili cheese dip and some chocolate fondue with caramel apples, marshmallows, pretzels, and cookies for dipping.

(Get it? Yeah we didn't either. That's what made it so funny I suppose)

Friday Confessional: Toaster Waffle Memories

Friday! Friday! Yahoo! Bah what a week!

Let's just dive right in shall we?

I had a sweet little memory hit me in the face this morning.
I was making my kids a ~~delightfully nutritious~~ ridiculously easy breakfast.
Eggos.
Well, Walmart brand Eggos
Or should I say Great Value Waffles.
Anyway
I was making their waffles and caught a whiff of their hot, crispy deliciousness.
And I was taken back,
WAY back
My Gramma Izatt used to make me Eggos.
I never ever EVER had them at my house.
Ever.
But guaranteed that if I stayed the night at Gramma's,
which I did a lot for some unknown reason,
I was getting Eggos in the morning.
She would even cut them up on the lines
so each bite was the exact same size.
And would butter them and then pour on the syrup.
They were the best tasting waffles I ever had.
This morning, there must have been something in the air
I have made waffles for my kids a bazillion times.
They're a staple here at the picky eaters central hub.
But the crisp morning and the smell of warm toaster waffles.
All that was missing was the smell of Grampa's Postum.
Barf.
Ah, I miss them.
My Gramma made THE BEST macaroni and cheese on the planet.
Many, many times I have tried to get the taste just right.
I have never been able to figure it out.
I mean, it was just a box of Kraft Cheese and Macaroni
But something she used made it taste DIVINE.
My brother and I have had many a discussion about what she could have possibly put in it to make it taste so darn good.
Real butter, half and half, real cheese?
Seriously, I may never know.
And my Grampa hated chocolate cake
crazy fella.
So whenever she would make one
It was on us to take one for the team.
Which was totally awesome.
And by us I mean me, my brothers, and my 3 cousins
we all lived on the same block.
Just across the way from each other.
I have this funny memory
My cousins, brothers and I
sitting around the kitchen table
playing Uno and Sorry
and Gramma whipping out the chocolate cake.
My cousin, Bryce, starts singing this little number
"Gramma's great, she gives us chocolate cake"
I ALWAYS remember that Sunday night.
Always.
Kinda funny what a stupid waffle can do for your mind.
Funny.
I guess I'm feeling a little nostalgic
I get that way this time of year.
But I mean come on.
A waffle?
What next? An ice cream cone makes me misty?
I have a meltdown over A tuna sandwich?
Boy I think I need a hobby.
Or maybe I'm just starving.
Either way.
Miss ya Gramma and Pa!

Apple Help! –SOLVED!!

I win.

My invasion of apples is over.

I put up 6 quarts of apple pie filling and 6 pints of applesauce.

Just remind me to make applesauce every year. I love the yellow cheeriness of these little babies! Every time I see their sunshiny faces I smile.

Not that they have faces per say.

But you know what I mean.

Right?

Anyway, I posted recipes and all about my adventures here.

I have been on phase one of THE DIET and after eating nothing but meats and veggies, I was pretty tempted by these beauties.

I can TOTALLY see how Eve was seduced by an apple.

Friday Confessional

Is it Friday already!? Seriously? I swear I say that every week! But this one just kind of snuck up on me. Good. I'm excited. Here's my confession.

Aw crap.
No seriously.
I just had a crown pop off.
Are you kidding me?!
Have I ever told you just how freeking much I hate my teeth?
Well it's obvious they hate me right back.
I have a dentist appointment on Tuesday.
Do you think I can make it until then?
If I'm really careful?
Oh I hate this!
Whatever, teeth.
Whatever.
I have been kinda out of the blogging sphere as of late.
I know everyone says that.
I'm glad I'm not alone.
There have been good reasons though.
Like * loads of laundry.
* = a friggin large amount.
And figuring out what to do with 50 apples.
(more on that later)
And uh preschool drop offs and pickups
And seriously when did preschool turn into real life class pictures and book orders school?!
Because MY preschool was a WHOLE lot differenter.
Differenter indeed.
Oh I've been doing hair lately.
a lot of hair actually.
It's been nice and fun!
I need a little salon in my basement.
That would be awesome.
And fun.
Oh and the main thing that's been keeping me off my computer
we got cable on Monday.
That's right, folks
genuine real life television.
I've been catching up on what's really going on in the world out there
and I gotta say I'm not too impressed.
But whatever.
We haven't watched on minute of Spongebob since Monday.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
(That was a heavenly angel choir, if you were wondering.)
Oh and cable, in case you didn't know, IS the root of all evil.
Pretty sure of it.
Gotta go pull out my emergency crown glue.
Because yeah, I keep it on hand.
Have you ever seen it in the store and been like
who would ever buy that crap?!
Well, I've got the answer.
Yo.
Right here.
This guy.
Because you just never know when one of your FREAKING crowns is gonna pop off.
Or out.
And yeah, it's not the first time.
So excuse me whilst I perform minor dental surgery on myself.
Tuesday better hurry up and get here!

Izacc's Words of Wisdom

August 15, 2011- While playing with Amelia he wrapped her up in a blanket and said, "Look mom! She's all snuggled up like a bug in a carpet." I think he was trying to say snug as a bug in a rug, but I get it.

July 2011- After church Izacc couldn't find me for a few minutes. On the drive home he said "If you had Life Alert I would have found you faster."

June 12, 2011- "Her ears are so cute! If I see them again I'm going to die!"

April 8, 2011- "Mom, guess what. I have a girlfriend named Anna. And when we get bigger we're going to get married. And then she'll have babies. And they will call you Grandma. But you'll still be my mom."

My life just flashed before my eyes.

March 2011- Izacc won't let me cut his hair. He wants it to look like "Justin Beaver" of whom he refers to as "Beaverton"

March 2011- I was listening to the radio and Izacc came into the room head banging his little heart out. I asked him if he like this song. He said, "No, mom, I don't. My brain is plugging it's ears."

February 2011- On a drive back home, my mom was trying to entertain the boys by putting Cheetos on a straw and told Izacc they were shiskabobs. Izacc then took a marshmallow bunny, skewered it and proclaimed "Shiskabunny!"

October 4, 2010- I said that I think I have the cutest kids around. Daddy said "I think Mommy's biased." Izacc said "No Jesus buyed us."

September 2010- Izacc's favorite songs to request are Nightmare by Avenged Sevenfold, Your Betrayal, by Bullet For My Valentine, and Airplanes and the night sky and shooting stars by "that singing M&M." Oh and Follow the Prophet. At least he's well versed in all genres!

August 2010- Izacc's clock on his wall ran out of batteries. One night, as I was putting him to bed, he gasped and said, "Mommy! Quick! My clock is going to run out of time! Find some batteries!"

June 15, 2010- While driving to Ikea, I pointed out the temple on the hill. When Izacc saw it, he asked me, "Was it built by the wise man or the foolish man?"

May 2010- Izacc made about 10 funny faces in a row and then proclaimed, "Those are my all my species."

May 2010- We were driving around and I commented on how pretty the moon was. IZ said "Are we going home? Because I want to keep driving and look at the beautyness!"

April 2010- Upon seeing that I had put away the toys he was playing with, he came into the room and proclaimed, "What the hell, mom?" He also informed me that I "scared the hell out of him" in Wal-Mart. Again, not sure where he's getting it from but I have to give him props for at least using it correctly.

February 21, 2010- We were listening to Kid's Place Live and the song "Heigh Ho" came on. IZ said, "Mom, they're saying 'pie hole' that means there is a big hole in their pie! Why is there a hole in their pie?"

February20, 2010- "Hey mom! Nice socks. What are those? Monkeys? Hey, speaking of which, I gotta get these bad boys off!" as he ripped his own socks off. Not kidding, that is exactly what he said...I almost died.

January 28, 2010- "Mommy, you make the best cookies and the best noodles."

January 27, 2010- IZ was pushing the cart at Walmart, he said, "Look Mom. Am I pushing the cart?" I said, "Yeah you are! Good job!" He then said, "Yeah, I'm pushing the hell out of this cart!" Yeeeaaaaaahh...uh...not 100% on where he picked that one up...really.

January 1, 2010- While sledding around the neighborhood, we crashed. IZ stood up and turned around, his glasses crooked on his face and simply said, "What'd we hit?". He later crashed with Gramma and stood up and said, "That's it. I'm done. I'm going back to Gramma's."

December 25, 2009- My Aunt, Uncle and Cousin and their kids came over to our house to check out our Christmas loot. IZ was very eager to show off everything he got and tried to get everyone to follow him down the stairs. When everyone left, he came up stairs and said, "Where did those humans go?"

November 18, 2009- IZ was watching a movie and I told him it was time to take a bath. He said, "Okay, let me go square my movie." I asked him what that meant. He said, "A square makes it stop and a triangle makes it go." So smart that kid.

November 11, 2009- EB has started saying "ma ma ma ma" and when IZ heard this, he continued EB's song by singing, "My my my poker face."

November 5, 2009- Ever heard the song "Say Hey (I Love You)" by Michael Franti & Spearhead? There is a part that goes, "The more I see the less I know. But I know one thing, That I love you (baby girl) I love you
I love you I love you." IZ, instead of singing "Baby Girl" sings "DIRTY BIRD!"

October 20, 2009- IZ was looking at a place mat with dinosaurs and their names. He then stated "This is a quadruped. He has four legs and a long neck and a big nose and red eyes and his name is Broccoli-saurus."

October 10, 2009- IZ was using the potty after eating a big meal and said, "Those French fries made me poop! Look! Lets go get some more so I can poop again!"

September 30, 2009- IZ and I were taking a bath and he informed me that I was Free Willy and he was the tiny, tiny boy. I think it's time to go on a diet.

September 16, 2009- We were walking to the park and saw some little kids playing peewee football. I asked IZ if he wanted to play football someday. He said no. I asked him what he wanted to play, expecting him to say soccer or baseball. He, with out even thinking, said "Duck duck goose!"

August 5, 2009- We went to the county fair and decided to ride a few rides. The Ferris wheel was closed so IZ and I rode another circle ride. It was too much for him and he cried through the entire thing. He shouted things like, "This ride makes me creepy" and "I'm just a little boy! I want to go home!" Bad mommy.

July 3, 2009- IZ climbed into bed with us at 6 am and was snuggled up watching cartoons. I was nursing EB and Thom started snoring. IZ looked at me and said, "Daddy is sleeping crazy! Listen!"

June 30, 2009- After walking through the house to find several places where a marker had been used, on walls, on the stove, on the TV, on the Wii, I asked IZ if he did it. "Yes" was his reply. When I inquired why he said "But it's my job!" I should have figured it out when earlier he said he was going to work.

May 23, 2009- IZ wanted to watch a DVD and so I took the one I was watching out, which was a Friends season, and when he saw it said, "Mommy, I am sick and tired for Friends."

May 14, 2009- When IZ is doing something, he will often say, "faster, faster, evil faster!" (Evil instead of even)

March 2009- While visiting my parents, IZ got to try his first marshmallow bunny. He took a bite and put it on a chair. A few minutes later, we heard his shriek, "My rabbie!" upon seeing it stuck to Gramma's unsuspecting bottom.
